I’m a historian and geographer with a focus on Namibian and Southern African history. I received my PhD from the University of Zurich and have been working as a postdoc at the Centre for African Studies at the University of Basel since. I published on the history of militarization and conservation, transfrontier conservation and land issues in Southern Africa and have been organizing regular academic exchange programs between Namibia and Switzerland. I’m an affiliated researcher at the University of Namibia. For my current project “Animal Crossings” I am based at the Global South Studies Centre of the University of Cologne and spent several months at the University of Warwick and the University of Botswana. In May 2024 I will start my MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship “Past Natures for Future Conservation (PANATURE): Current Narratives and Historical Human-Wildlife-Land Relations in Southern Africa and the European Alps“.
